Are you a contractor looking to provide duct sealing services in Miami-Dade County, FL? If so, you'll need to make sure you have the right training and certifications. To obtain a license for any of the services listed, contractors must pass an examination, with the exception of the pneumatic tube transportation system license. For air conditioning services, contractors must hold a certificate of competence in air conditioning. This certification allows them to install, repair, modify, add, or change any air conditioning, heating, and ventilation system, with no limit on power or tons.
This includes all or all of the duct systems needed to complete an air conditioning system and the installation of a condensate drain from an air conditioning unit to an existing safe drain or other approved disposal device that is not a direct connection to a sanitary disposal system. In addition to passing the exam, contractors must also meet certain experience requirements and maintain a level of financial responsibility. The Miami-Dade County Construction Trades Qualification Board states that all other categories (except officer and maintenance) must pass the two-part exam (technical and commercial). As a qualified agent of a company, you must have a significant interest or financial interest in the eligible entity, as evidenced by the position of director, partner, or principal shareholder. To reciprocate with Miami-Dade County, contractors must have passed an exam and obtained a score of 75% or higher at the officer level and 70% or higher in all other reciprocal categories. If these requirements are not met, contractors will be fined for violating Chapter 10 of the Miami-Dade County Code. It's important for contractors to make sure their state registration is up to date and provide the Miami-Dade County Contractor Licensing Section with their current and active registration number.
Failure to do so can result in fines for violating Chapter 10 of the Miami-Dade County Code.
